Yesterday I went to a Seal Rescue Center at the Northern Sea, to find out more about their work, and check out the seal pups. They are doing an amazing job with rescuing all injured or orphan pups from the area and giving them a temporary home, until they’re strong enough to be returned to the sea.
With a team of dedicated biologists from all around the world taking care of them, it seems like the pups have a good start in life.
I was very much impressed with this little creatures. They are very playful and curious, and in any possible way, simply adorable. Something in their behavior reminded me of dogs.
It was very difficult to leave the center, especially without this little pup 🙂 .
Coming back home from the rescue center, I couldn’t help but feel very inspired to paint a seal.

Love your work, Lucy. May I ask what is the time interval? (No sleeve hint this time :))

Hahah, yes, I did my best to hide the sleeve (too warm!). I just checked on the camera. It took me 1h and a half. It went pretty quick, but I was kind of nervous to get it right 🙂 I didn’t want to offend any pup by making them look less nice than they are 🙂

awww they look so cute, I don’t think you offend anyone :p
I can’t help but laugh when I see the first picture haha, oh gosh. The painting is quite good !
It must be great to work as a volunteer over there, I wouldn’t mind doing it

Thanks Gin! I also think they look adorable. A bit fatty, yes, but they need the fat haha. I also wanted to volunteer with them, but when I asked, they charge almost 300 euro for a day….. I’m just not going to pay money to volunteer. Giving my time should be enough. Pity though, because I would really love to do it. I’m sure they’re having a great time at the center with these little cuties 🙂

Why do you have to pay if you want to help them ? It makes no sense ? D:

I know, right? Apparently they try to get more money from the people interested, even if I also believe more help is better. Because they have so many people who want to take care of the seal, they use this trick to drop down the numbers. Looks like it works, but yeah…I would have really liked to do that.
