My New Guard … Ducks?!

It’s always fun to make new friends, and today I made a new one, when a wild duck landed in my garden, early in the morning, looking for something to eat.

After feeding it, the duck left, just to come back with 4 more friends. Word gets round fast, doesn’t it?wild_ducks

With 4 more satisfied customers, I went back inside only to find the house surrounded and guarded by my new friends.

I think I’ve just been adopted by 5 wild ducks 🙂 Neat!

    • Hahaha I can open my own petting Zoo soon! Actually I was in the garden the whole day, painting. Not ducks, but a flower and butterfly. I will post it shortly 🙂 Have a great day!

  1. That is awesome, Lucy…how can they resist you. I hope they continue to “guard” you. They know your kindness and loving spirit. I wish ducks would fly in my yard. Enjoy you new found friends!

    • Thank you so much for your kind words, Frances! I guess animals feel if they should come close to someone or not. They were quite friendly 🙂 I couldn’t help but laugh when they surrounded the house and fell asleep while waiting. I hope they will hang around. It’s a lot of fun to see them! Have a lovely day! 2. WoW!!!
Just lovely…the first picture is beautifully taken.
Almost like an extended family and they make our day special…
So innocent and so alluring, just cannot take our eyes away.
take care of them, and you must be doing so better than their expectation.

    • Thank you so much! I knew you will enjoy them! We have 2 bird feeders but I always save older bread for bigger birds, like ducks or geese. So yes, I would say they are our extended family 🙂 For sure I’ll keep feeding them, as I do with all the smaller birds. Maybe they decide to stay in the area permanently. 😀

      • Oh! you have bird feeders and that’s great, I miss these moments and as don’t have the opportunity to build and nurture such lovely engagement with nature and its beautiful creatures…i am literally enjoying with your pictures and narration. You must take care of them, and I am sure you will miss them…

      • Actually, the first thing we went to buy after moving is, were the bird feeders 🙂 I love nature, and I love to see birds around the house. In every place I ever lived, i always took care of the environment and the animals around. They give back so much, it would be a pity to miss out on such an opportunity 🙂
Birds are meant to come and go, and this is how it should be. They should be free, and choose the best spot for them to be in. I will miss them though, when they leave 🙂

      • You are so lucky and I am very happy about it, all of us always don’t have the opportunity to be close to nature and able to nurture the beauty of mother nature. In today’s digital world we have literally moved away from nature and life is not the same without nature…for that matter, in today’s digital world going back to nature is more important and you are with nature, it is special and I am enjoying that through your lovely descriptions.
We really miss them (birds) when they go…there is a uncanny relationship we establish with them.
        😀

      • Very true. We allow technology to separate us from a much deeper connection, with nature. Still, I like to keep a balance between the two. I hate to be indoors for too long. I always need some green grass and flowers to recharge my batteries 🙂
I hope you will have the chance to do so, as often as possible!

      • No I do, I just cannot be far away from nature, have made a beautiful lawn and garden in the office and I make it a point to go for a walk into the National Park opposite my office.
Just cannot keep my thinking ignited without the power of nature, have to spend some time with nature almost daily…yes green and grass makes it so soothing and so inspiring to think and imagine.
We just cannot escape the power of technology, rightly said so we need to strike a balance which is important.
        😀

      • Well, in a way, thanks to technology we meet amazing people, and such lovely conversations wouldn’t happen otherwise, so I can’t completely stay away from it. Still, being in an office a whole day, is really hard, especially when the weather is nice. I used to eat lunch on the grass, at lunch, in a park close by to my work space, just to relax a bit and recharge my batteries. I’m just the same. Have to be close to nature 🙂

      • It just grows on us, when we are close to nature and understand the intrinsic power of nature, these powers are magnetic and once we understand it, we just fall for it.
I agree when the weather is nice we all come out and have the discussion in our office lawn, it is so refreshing.
No question about it, where else we would have had just lovely discussion without these technology platform…we all have to balance nature and technology and it is not an easy thing to do, having both is a lovely thing.

Nature and nurturing is our motto.
        😀

      • Can’t agree more! Same here. I always find it strange how refreshed I feel after spending some time on the grass. Always good in case you have a busy and stressful schedule.
I think we’re doing pretty good when it comes to that balance. I plant to keep it this way! 😀

      • The essence of nature is so engaging, it keeps our energy level high and we are a different person when we are close to nature and our cognitive behavior is governed by the influence of nature. Green is pleasing to mind and the grass is soothing to eyes…good mechanism to de-stress ourselves.

Yes, I agree that’s how we should keep our life and living more refreshing and lively…
        😀

  3. So lovely, ducks areon of my (many) favorite birds…such precision flyers! You will see a bird landing with more speed and precision than a duck. How does your dog respond to the ‘invasion’? Have a lovely Sunday, Johanna

    • Thank you so much, Johanna! I also love to see them so close to us. Lisa had to watch me feed birds many times before, and she’s usually ok with it. Mostly begging for a piece of bread as well haha. I don’t get it how she can drool at bread, when she normally eats meat and other goodies 🙂 Have a great day and thank you for stopping by! x
